Quick VNC Install to Win32 Machines

This is only for Intel Windows platforms.  Other users, go here for the AT&T site

I am using the "Tight" version 1..2.3 of VNC, as it works much better over slow Internet connections than regular VNC.  See www.tightvnc.com for the latest version (1.4.x) and more details.

Host Side

1. Save these 2 files to your Windows Directory (usually \windows or \winnt)

bullet winvnc.exe
bullet vnchooks.dll

2. Go to Start-Run "winvnc"  VNC Host will prompt for a password, enter one and press "ok"

Note: When WinVNC is running, passing your mouse over it's System Tray icon (blue box with "V" in it!) will reveal your IP address.

If you want WinVNC to stick around after logging out, do Start-Run "Winvnc -install" to make it a service. WinNT/2K/XP users can then type "NET START WINVNC" to start the service immediately, Win9x must reboot.

Remote Side

bulletThe VNCViewer program can be gotten here, or
bulletSimply use any Java enabled web browser and attach with http://servername:5800
