Hosting Contract Policy

All clients hosting services on our servers are required to have a current, signed copy of their hosting contract on file.

Backup Policy

Our backup policy allow us to maintain our servers at near 100% reliability.  We maintain full daily backups (run at 2am) and can restore a file from yesterday's backup upon request.  Restore requests must be made to this e-pager address before 6pm in order to be restored from the previous nights backup.  Our tape rotation schemes might not allow us to restore a specific file back to a specific date, so archival and historical backups are YOUR responsibility.

Email Policy

bullet100 megabytes storage maximum at one time
bullet20 megabytes maximum size per email
bulletPlease set your client to check email no more frequently than once check per 5 minutes - it's like leaving your water faucet turned on - drip...drip...drip drains bandwidth.
bulletAttachments  with potentially damaging extensions are encapsulated and sent to you with a warning.  Please be careful in opening any attachment!
bulletWe reserve the right to refuse any mail infected with a known virus, but we cannot guarantee that a virus will not pass thru our service.
bulletIncoming email is summarily filtered, we use a variety of filtering techniques to ensure your inbox is as clean as possible.
bulletWe prefer that you use the SMTP service of your ISP, but if necessary will provide SMTP services under smtp.yourdomain.com.  Several relay restrictions are in place that might restrict your ability to send mail through our SMTP service.  See Mail Settings for help.
bulletAll mail servers that send to our servers are required to have proper DNS settings and follow proper DNS protocols.
bulletWe offer Webmail pickup - visit http://mail.yourdomain.com for access.

We ensure that email accounts are periodically checked and reserve the right to remove accounts that have been inactive for 90 days or longer.  We will attempt to notify you before removing any account.  Once an account is removed, associated email is deleted and cannot be recovered.

Any email older than 14 days in "Junk Mail" and "Sent Mail" folders are removed nightly.

Email account passwords, forwarding, auto-replies and more can be maintained by you - Visit your WebMail to configure.

Web Publishing Policy

While we offer HTML design and update services, most clients choose to maintain their own pages.  We support FTP and FrontPage 2002 extensions for posting sites.   These services require an account (see below) before you can use them.    Each domain is assigned a single account name and password for FTP/FrontPage access.  Under no condition do we allow anonymous FTP!

CGI scripting is supported, we support Perl 5 and Javascript/VBScript ASP server-side scripting.  We reserve the right to review all code at any time for acceptability.

We restrict the filenames hosted and use scanning methods to ensure requests for the following files are rejected.

bulletno high-end (non-ANSI) characters,
bulletAll URL's will be normalized and unicodes will be translated
bulletThe following characters will not be allowed
..  ,   ./  ,  \  ,  %
bulletThe following strings will not be allowed
.bat, .cmd, .com, .htw, .ida, .idq, .htr, .idc, .stm, .printer, .ini, .log, .pol, .dat
/_private, /_vti_pvt, /_vti_cnf, /_vti_txt, /_vti_log

We also support a number of applets to assist in email and forms, please contact us for more information.

Web Logs Policy

We maintain http and ftp logs for a period of 60 days.  On the 1st of each month, we purge any logs older than 6 months.  If you are interested in maintaining web log history beyond this, please contact us so that we can make your logs available to your for own archive.  It is your responsibility to download logs while they are available on the server.   Under no conditions will we restore web logs beyond the 60 day limit.

We make Log Analysis Reports available through FlashStats - a real-time log reporting utility.  If you have this feature enabled, visit www.yourdomain.com/flashstats for a query form.  If this is not a valid URL, please contact us and we will activate it at no charge.   If you forget your Flashstats UserID and password, please contact us.

While Flashstats is our program of choice for analysis, some of our clients ask for more detailed analysis.  If you'd like to download logs for your own analysis, please contact us and we can set up an HTTP/FTP download site for your own archival purposes at no additional charge.

Account Policy

All FTP and FrontPage accounts require an account name and password.  Our account policy dictates that account names are your first initial followed by your last name.  In case of conflict, we'll add your middle initial to the account.  All passwords must be 9 to 16 characters - we recommend using challenging passwords; mixing characters, numbers and symbols to make them harder to guess.    When accounts are initially defined, we will assign a password to you.   Please contact us to change any account password.  We do not require periodic password changes.

Intruder Lockout Policy

All account logins (except for custom written CGI authentication) are audited for invalid logins.   Should excessive logins be attempted within a predetermined time frame, the account will be locked until manually unlocked.   This prevents dictionary attacks on your account and password from being successful.  If you find your account is locked out, please contact us.
